Publications:

I published about 200 papers in refereed journals and a large number of chapters in meeting proceedings and books. I have been involved in many co-operations in the Netherlands and abroad with groups mainly in Japan and the USA. My research was focused in the past on metalloproteins and their reactions in particular with oxygen and derivatives. The vanadium haloperoxidases which have been discovered in Amsterdam still form part of my research. After my move in 2000 group to the Van't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences the research of the group became more focussed on the use of enzymes (peroxidases, phosphatases and sulfatates) in organic conversions and the creation of biocatalysts with novel properties by Directed Evolution techniques.
